Maryland law mandates insurance coverage of nutritional services for: cancer, diabetes, malnutrition, stroke, heart and kidney diseases, and obesity in conjunction with any of these 6 diseases -- up to 6 visits per year. Virginia law does not license nutritionists nor mandate insurance coverage for nutritional services -- but diabetes is usually covered. You might also obtain coverage by a letter of referral from your physician.
