Laboratory Testing

Because each patient is biochemically unique, laboratory tests are essential to help discover the exact causes of your nutritional problems. The Allergy & Nutrition Clinic offers innovative laboratory testing for nutritional factors and food allergies -- in accordance with state and federal laws:

Laboratories

Only the very best labs in each specialty are utilized. All labs are CLIA certified (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act, 1988, administered by Medicare). The Clinic offers testing at several Virginia laboratories. Testing with labs outside the state is in conjunction with Greater Falls Church Chiropractic Center where required. Tests for Medicare and Medicaid patients will require your physician's authorization, plus usually an Advance Beneficiary Notice.

Lab Kits

Most nutrition tests involve specialty lab kits, available at the Clinic. These are marked by an asterisk "
*" below. Some of these can be done at home (hair, saliva, urine, stool). The kits are then shipped in pre-paid packets to the labs for processing. Other kits require blood samples (see below).

Blood Drawing

Blood for local labs, such as Lab Corp, can be drawn at their drawing stations. Blood for nutrition lab kits can be drawn at your doctor's office or at convenient licensed phlebotomy centers. Some centers charge a small fee for the blood draw; others bill the receiving lab instead. Note: Lab Corp and Quest will not draw blood for third-party labs.

Billing For Tests

In most cases laboratories bill patients or their insurance companies directly, less a co-pay. The Clinic charges a small fee for the lab test kits.
